Interested in a career in Construction and the Building Trades?

Illinois Works' FREE Pre-Apprenticeship Program prepares participants to successfully transition into a Department of Labor registered apprenticeship in the trades. As part of GLOW's mission to empower women, youth, and families, we provide mentorship, financial literacy, and workforce development opportunities that equip participants with the skills, confidence, and support needed to build successful careers in the construction industry. The goal of this program is to remove barriers to employment and create pathways to long-term career success.

WHO CAN APPLY?

We welcome all individuals to apply, with a strong emphasis on supporting women, people of color, and veterans in pursuing careers in the construction trades.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 18 years of age

  • High School Diploma/GED/HiSET

  • Illinois Resident

THIS PROGRAM OFFERS:

  • Classroom Instruction

    Hands-on, instructor-led courses covering core construction skills and trade knowledge.

  • Wrap-Around Services

    Holistic support, including transportation, childcare, and other resources, to remove barriers to participation.

  • Student Support Services

    Personalized guidance, mentorship, and academic support throughout the program.

  • Stipends

    Financial assistance is provided to help offset expenses while enrolled.

  • Industry Recognized Certifications (NCCER, OSHA, First Aid/CPR)

    Gain credentials that meet national standards and enhance your employability in the construction industry.
